I’m a cis-queer, half-gen, racialized settler with straight-partner privilege, currently occupying the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), S'ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), Qayqayt, and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) peoples. I navigate the world in a neurodivergent, straight-sized body, and am working-turned-middle class. I am from Hong Kong, and my ancestors have roots in Chaozhou and Nanjing.

What makes me most useful as a designer + consultant is that I'm not only a designer + consultant. My wild child career path builds complexity into the way I work and gives context to the impact of the decisions we make.

A little back story: I've always loved design. As a kid, I didn't collect toys or playing cards - I collected paint chip samples (still do!); but being in art school changed my relationship with creativity. It wasn't about being resourceful and inventive anymore, it was about getting approval. At first, that didn't stop me. I thought I'd get around that by getting into marketing, helping brands build beautiful things that added value to people's lives. But my undergraduate degree in marketing made me see how coercive, soul-sucking, and capitalism-worshipping it can be.

Spinning 180 again, I found myself in counselling work, leaving most if not all of my design + marketing roots behind. I was great at marketing, but I didn't want to be; I held a lot of shame for my brain's natural affinity for this work. Until I started getting more involved in building more radical projects in the field. Being in these spaces helped me reclaim a part of myself that was co-opted and lost, and turned it into something uniquely useful for the world we're trying to build.

I've had the honor of building completely new systems outside of what we know to be 'private practice', building fundamentally different 'private practices', and consulting with anti-oppressive, justice-oriented non-profits in radicalizing their work.

And now, I'd love to support your liberatory work too.

Got something you want to make happen? I gotchu.
